00:00501453 R AC and 501453 dedicated cable. Gland.
00:08General description of Gland.
00:11The 501453 R AC comprises six major components. These being the back nut,
00:19middle nut, reversible armor, clamping ring or R ac armor spigot,
00:24inner seal and the entry component complete with captive deluge boot if required.
00:30This cable, Gland accommodates all types of elastomer and plastic insulated cable
00:36incorporating all types of armor or braid. The most common being single wire armor W and
00:42wire braid X.
00:44The 501453 dedicated armor cable. Gland is fitted with individual rings to suit
00:50each of the types of armor or braid available.
00:54Assembly instructions are supplied with each cable.
00:57Gland, please refer to these for further instructions on cable preparation and
01:02installation. Cable preparation allow sufficient length of
01:09cable to enable termination of the conductors into the junction box strip back and remove the
01:15required amount of outer sheath and armor or braid to enable connection of the conductors
01:20into the junction box, remove a further 20 millimeters of outer sheath on cable glands
01:26from sizes OS to C and 25 millimeters on cable. Gland sizes from C two to F
01:35cable Gland installation fit the ingress protection or IP washer if required onto the
01:41entry thread and fit the entry component into the junction box hand tight using the enclosure
01:47thread or locknut using a spanner or wrench tighten until resistance is felt a quarter to a
01:54half turn nominal pass the back nut, middle nut and armor clamping ring over the cable for
02:01the 501453 R ac, making sure that the ring is in the correct orientation for the type of
02:07armor or braid being used for the 501453 dedicated armor cable.
02:13Gland, the armor ring must be placed over the cable with the thickest part of the ring
02:18towards the back of the cable. Gland spread the armor or braid by gently
02:24pulling it away from the inner sheath of the cable and place the armor spigot over the cable.
02:30A screwdriver may be required for this exercise for larger cable sizes,
02:35remove the seal from the entry component and push the cable through into the enclosure until
02:41the ends of the armor or braid are against the shoulder of the armor spigot.
02:47Bring up the clamping ring and position over the armor or braid,
02:51then bring up the middle nut and hand tighten onto the entry portion,
02:56finalized by tightening the middle nut a further half to three quarters of a turn to
03:01make off the armor clamping assembly unscrew the middle nut from the entry portion and
03:07withdraw it from the junction box.
03:09Visually inspect that the armor or braid has been effectively clamped between the armour
03:14spigot and the armour clamping ring.
03:17Insert the inner seal back into the entry component and reinsert the cable into the
03:22junction box. Reassemble the middle nut onto the entry
03:26component. Tighten the middle nut using a spanner or
03:29wrench until resistance is felt between the seal and the cable.
03:33Then turn the middle nut through a further half turn nominal to complete the tightening of the
03:38inner seal. Position the back nut and hand tighten until it
03:44forms a seal around the outer cable sheath using one spanner or wrench,
03:49hold the middle nut in position whilst finalizing the tightening of the back nut by a
03:54further complete turn with another spanner or wrench, complete the installation by pulling
04:00the deluge seal down onto the middle nut. If applicable,
04:04the 501453 R AC or 501453 dedicated cable Gland has
04:11now been correctly installed.
04:14Please note cable acceptance sizes are marked on the clamping ring and back nut for armor,
04:19clamping range and outer ceiling range respectively.
