Energy Efficient Design

Comparing Technologies

HID

Our streets and highways, parking garages and exterior environments have been illuminated with HID fixtures as a best-in-class solution for years. Historically the majority of retailers use Metal Halide (MH) or High Pressure Sodium (HPS) sources with illuminance levels typically exceeding the IESNA (Illuminating Engineering Society of North America) recommended RP20 guideline for designing lighting for parking facilities, due to an excessive amount of light directly below the luminaire.

The Cimarron with High Performance optics delivers a better performing traditional solution, having improved upon the standard HID offering with industry leading uniformity that delivers the right light exactly where it’s needed.

  • High Performance Segmented optics(H3P, H4P, H5P) enhance overall visual acuity and improves lumen distribution
  • Produces an average fc reading of 2.5 with a better than 4 to 1 uniformity
  • Offers energy efficient HID lamps up to 400 watts
  • IDA compliant optics that provide excellent spill control behind the pole
  • Meet IESNA full cut-off criteria
  • Uniquely designed to deliver different levels of performance to meet any budget or demanding lighting requirements

LED

Advancements in technology have brought about the use of light sources such as LED that provide more energy efficiency and long life, and help protect the environment.

The Cimarron LED delivers advantages of energy-efficiency, better uniformity, reduced pole count in certain configurations, reduced maintenance and an extended long life.

  • Delivers wider spacing and increased forward throw
  • Improved overall uniformity
  • Uses less than 50% of the energy of an equivalent HID at full brightness
  • Bi-Level control and continuous dimming options offer additional energy-savings
  • Can reduce pole count
  • Enables mounting heights from 15 ft. to over 30 ft.
  • Performs virtually maintenance-free (60,000 hours life)
  • Energy savings and reduced annual maintenance costs

For outdoor parking applications, consideration should be made for the following:

  • Illuminance - minimum and uniformity requirements
  • Energy Savings
  • Luminaire Layout
  • Maintenance
  • Optical Control
  • Performance
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Total cost of ownership
