Federal Center South, Seattle WA
The Federal Center South renovation project, home of the USACE, recently completed in December 2012, was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The unique oxbow shaped building capitalizes on day-lighting while enjoying views of the Duwamish Waterway.
Targeting LEED Gold certification, the building houses a rainwater reuse system, optimum day-lighting exposure and reclaimed timber throughout the building. At the request of the project's engineering design firm, Litecontrol engineers created a "dead special" pendant fixture that is indirect/direct with a specific peak intensity and down-light requirement. A matching wall fixture was also developed. These custom fixtures hang in the open and private office areas on all three floors of the building. The Mod 44 Wall/Wash lights the USACE signs on either side of the lobby hallway.
