There are many skills that Pamela Tresp has learned from her years as a police officer in Dallas – that she now uses to benefit her career as lighting sales representative for Progress Lighting.
She observes. She listens. She pays attention to details.
And when we start to learn about all that her role encompasses, it’s no wonder that she has been nominated for the 29th ARTS Awards (sales rep category).
The ARTS Awards, known as a premier awards program in the United States, honors those in the home industry – and is presented each January during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market.
As we continue to celebrate this important awards nomination, we thought it would be fun to catch up with Pamela and learn what a “day in the life” looks like!
As a National Accounts Manager – Multifamily for Progress Lighting, her role requires Pamela to create customized and strategic plans for manufacturers to help them grow. Alternatively, she also works closely with distributors, to help them increase bottom lines across a variety of areas.
“There is no one-size-fits-all approach to my business,” said Pamela.
Pamela assists with a bath and vanity lighting installation in the Dallas area.
In addition to building relationships with both manufacturers and distributors, it’s crucial that Pamela stay up to date with current and future regulations, as well as technological developments, affecting the lighting industry. (It’s a good thing she isn’t afraid of change or learning about in-depth information!).
According to Pamela, she stays ahead of the curve by achieving certification in emerging categories, such as the LEED Green program for home and office buildings and the WELL AP program.
Additionally, she attends major trade shows and takes both business and leadership classes – and electrical courses.
Pamela loves to share the knowledge she has learned with others, which is why she regularly conducts product knowledges sessions for the staff of lighting showrooms. Her ultimate goal is to inspire new ways of thinking about lighting with anyone she comes in contact with.
Progress Lighting is lucky to have Pamela as a member of the National Accounts team. In addition to the recent ARTs Awards nomination, Tresp has also been recognized as Luminary Sales Rep in enLIGHTenmenet Magazine’s 2017 Annual Legends, Leaders & Luminaries Awards.
Pamela learns all she can about lighting regulations, technology and product details so she can share with others on her team.
On behalf of the entire Progress Lighting family, we congratulate Pamela and wish her the best!
