While we know it’s popular to extend the outdoor living season, did you also know that many interior designers are focusing on “bringing the outdoors in?”
According to Richard Gacek of Gacek Design Group, one of the ways we can change interior areas to reflect the fall season is to incorporate local natural materials.
“Bringing natural materials from the surrounding area can be tied in with clean lined interiors. It’s an exciting way to differentiate home settings,” said Richard.
Additionally, Home Accents Today Editor Jenny Heinzen York says that natural earth organic – a design influence that brings “the outdoors inside” in an updated way – shouldn’t be confused as rustic.
How can you incorporate this trend in your home this fall? Here are a few ideas:
- Use accessories that have branch inspired accents – whether comprised of actual branches or materials made to look like branches.
- Pot small trees or plants that are local to your area to accessorize favorite rooms in your homes.
- Incorporate pieces with mixed metals to complement natural earth organic decor.
- Select smaller items, such as accessories, pillows or artwork, with nature-inspired settings to give a new look or freshen an area up.
