00:07Hubbell TAYMAC and Bell, the market leader in weatherproof
00:10metallic and non metallic while in-use covers also offers a full line of extra duty while in
00:14use covers. So why extra duty?
00:17Let me tell you why.
00:18The 2014 National Electric Code has new requirements that affect what type of cover can
00:23be installed on outdoor 15 and 20 amp receptacles.
00:27Basically all receptacles in a potentially wet location require a well in use cover that meets
00:32the new UL extra duty rating.
00:35So what exactly is extra duty? Well, technically speaking,
00:37it's a UL rating achieved by passing the tough UL 514D Extra Duty Standard.
00:42Long before we submit to UL, we put our covers through our own series of rigorous testing like
00:49psycho testing, accelerated
00:56aging and material uniformity, weatherproof rain and sprinkler
01:03testing and cold impact testing. To name a few.
01:10These tests ensure our covers will hold up to whatever comes their way to pass the UL
01:17extra duty impact test. The cover and hinge need to withstand the force
01:21of a 12 pound weight dropping from 18 inches. The impact test is repeated with the cover
01:26rotated 90 degrees to simulate a side impact, you'll have peace of mind that our
01:32covers will remain safe and secure in the extra duty hinge stress test,
01:38the cover must withstand a 40 pound weight being suspended for a period of five seconds.
01:44The cover is then reoriented, so both hinges can receive the same testing
01:48because you never know what direction the next hazard will come from.
01:55So if the play gets rough, make sure you stay tough with any of our many options of extra
02:00duty rated covers.
02:03Our metallic line includes the device specific Bell Rain Guard line or our original MX
02:10series that incorporates our patented adapter system to fit any common device. Also available
02:15with our patented low profile feature.
02:18We also offer a full line of extra duty non metallic covers including the MM420, the jumbo
02:24depth MM720, or two gang mm 2420 or our exclusive expandable ML500
02:30series available in gray white or bronze and the two gang ML2500
02:37for new installs or if your device is old and outdated.

02:44resistant tamper resistant GFC or receptacle.
02:47They're convenient and ensure that both the cover and device are 2014 NEC compliant.

02:57safe and up to code.
