As New Orleans ramps up to support coronavirus treatment, Hubbell Commercial Construction was there to help. While converting the New Orleans Convention Center into a temporary field hospital, the team converting the site turned to Hubbell for essential products.

More than 2,000 pieces were needed overnight so the hospital could be open within a week. The team not only secured all the necessary product; they investigated the least expensive shipping option to get the products there in time.

“This effort is just one example of the great work done by this team every day,” commented Christoph Vogel, VP and General Manager, Industrial & Commercial Construction. “This project had special meaning for us because of the small part we are playing to help treat patients suffering from the virus.”. Hubbell provided Bell brand NEMA 3R rated single gang electrical boxes and blank covers. Normally used for weatherproof installations, they allow for secure and easily sanitized electrical connections in the field hospital setup.

The convention center will initially hold 1,000 beds, with the capacity for more. It is intended for recovery and the ongoing treatment of COVID-19 patients who do not require a ventilator or need to be in ICU, but instead for those patients who still need some treatment but are expected to be released soon.
