Looper car reels are used in galvanizing plants and other coil fed processes to allow a continuous flow of steel while a full coil is being inserted on the feed end or removed from the finished goods end. The cars are like small railroad flat cars with rollers on the top hooked together by a length of cable wound on the reel. The lead car is powered and acts as the engine. When the lead car pulls out, the cable unspools to its full length, then pulls the car. When the lead car comes back, it pushes the cars into a solid "train" and the reels on each car rewind the cable to get it out of the way. The reel is very heavy duty because a dozen or more cars may be pulled on each cycle. Model #LCR151--2-XXX. XXX Specifies footage for the reel of the wire.
