Modifying an existing electrical enclosure for a different application and NEMA rating can be a slow, expensive process. Scaling up a smaller design or sizing down a larger one often creates a product that still doesn’t meet exact specifications.

New NEMA 1 and NEMA 1/3R freestanding enclosures from the Hubbell brand Wiegmann eliminate the need to modify an existing design. They also prevent having to order a custom enclosure when protection in a larger size is the primary objective.

The enclosures are also safer, easier to install, and offer a shorter lead time than custom designs. The new NEMA 1 enclosures are designed with screw covers that provide access without compromising protection while the new NEMA 1/3R enclosures feature hinged doors and flat, lockable latches. Both designs make securing and accessing internal components safe and easy. They can be purchased in single or double-door variations. Available sizes range from 60x24x18 to 90x36x36 for single-door enclosures and 60x48x18 to 90x72x36 for double-door.

Panel mounting hardware is included to support optional back panels. These panels allow users to mount an enclosure without having to drill directly into the back of the enclosure.
