GAI-Tronics is pleased to announce that our SP2 serverless IP paging and intercom system is now available with an option for native fiber optic connection. Using fiber optic cable to connect an SP2 station to an Ethernet switch instead of standard CAT5 cable increases the maximum distance between station and switch from 330 feet to several miles!
The fiber optic option is available on all variants of SP2, including indoor and outdoor stations, speaker amplifiers and remote stations, and safe and hazardous-area stations. Fiber optic and CAT5 stations can be used together in the same SP2 system.
The fiber optic connection is achieved by the use of a Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) module within the SP2 station. A socket for an SFP module and a cable management spool is included on the rear of the front panel of each fiber SP2 station. The SFP module will depend on the network equipment used and so are supplied separately.
