00:05The 501 RCG combines the features of our market leading cable glam range with the plug and play
00:10benefits of a connector.
00:12The product consists of two halves, the 501 RCG entry which is hard wire to the equipment and
00:18the 501 RCG body which is used to terminate the cable.
00:22The 501 RCG entry highlighted is supplied with crim pins for end user termination onto
00:27conductors. The 501 RCG body consists of a center nut
00:32socket inserts applied with socket contacts, spigot armor,
00:36clamping ring, middle nut and back nut 501 RCG entry installation guide
00:45take the conductors which are to be hardwired into the equipment strip,
00:50five millimeters of the conductor slide pin contact over the exposed copper ensure that the
00:56insulation is tight to the contact with a maximum of one millimeter exposed copper.
01:01Use a crimping tool to crimp the contact to the conductor.
01:05It is important that a radial style four jaw, six jaw or Hexagon crimp tool is used ensuring
01:11consistent 360 degree collapsing of the crimped barrel.
01:17Noting the numbering of the pin positions which are molded into the entry component slide the
01:21conductors through the entry insert.
01:31The next step requires a pin insertion tool.
01:34This can be purchased from Hawke International as a separate item,
01:38use the pin insertion tool to push the contact into the insert until you hear the engagement
01:42click, repeat. For all positions, inspect the contacts to
01:47ensure they are straight if needed. Adjust with the insertion tool,
01:52slide supplied IP washer over the conductors and entry thread,
01:59wind the entry onto the equipment and tighten the conductors may now be wired into the
02:04equipment. The entry may be supplied with an energized cap
02:11in order to fit this component, firstly align and engage the key weights,
02:16screw the cap onto the entry until hand tight, using a tool to ensure the entry cannot turn,
02:22use a second tool to tighten.
02:24It is now permitted to energize the equipment
02:32501 RCG body installation guide, prepare the cable as detailed
02:38in the assembly instructions.
02:40Ensure the armor or braid is correctly cut and stripped dismantle the components of the 501
02:47RCG body. As shown the socket insert will come away from
02:51the spigot. When squeezed, slide, the back nut and metal
02:57nut onto the cable, confirm the orientation of the armor clamping ring is correctly orientated
03:03to suit the cable type. Then slide onto the cable slide,
03:09the spigot over the conductors and push the shoulder up to the exposed armor or braid slide,
03:14the clamping ring back up the cable and over the armor or braid as far as possible,
03:22slide the middle nut up the cable until it meets the armor clamping ring,
03:29pass the center nut over the conductors and hand tight into the middle nut.
03:43Grip the center up with a wrench using a second wrench, tighten an additional half to three
03:49quarters of a turn
03:56unscrew the middle nut, inspect the armour clamping ring confirming it is now clamped in
04:02place. If clamping is not satisfactory repeat,
04:06the process display the conductors
04:16note the numbering on the socket insert, feed the cable conductors through the correct slot
04:22in the socket insert, slide the socket insert down to the spigot until it clicks in place.
04:33Mark the cut length and the strip length on the cable conductors.
04:38Visual indicators are molded into the socket insert, cut the
04:45conductors to length strip the conductors to expose the correct amount of copper.
04:53The socket insert may be removed to assist this process.
04:59Take the first contact slide over the conductor and press into the slot.
05:03As shown, the contact will now be retained in the socket insert.
05:08Repeat for all positions.
05:11Take a moment to confirm the sockets are correctly seated,
05:15visually confirm all the contacts are concentric to the openings in the tip of the
05:20sucker insert visually confirm all the contacts are correctly rotated so that the grub screw is
05:26in the center of the slot.
05:30The product is supplied with a sachet of thread locker, apply a drop to each of the grub screws
05:36and tighten with a screwdriver
05:47loosely screw, the center nut onto the middle nut do not tighten.
05:54Confirmed that the metalwork can still spin around the cable and insert the 501 RCG may
06:00have been fitted with a metallic cap which allows the product to be energized.
06:04The system must be de energized before this cap is removed.
06:09Take the 501 RCG body and offer up to the entry.
06:13Ensure the key ways are aligned.
06:16Engage the body into the entry and hand tighten,
06:24grip the entry with a wrench and use a second wrench to tighten the center knot,
06:33hand tight in the middle melt
06:41grip. The sent up with a wrench, use a second wrench
06:45to apply a further quarter turn to the middle nut, tighten the back nut by hand until a seal
06:52is formed around the cable.
06:56Use a wrench to grip the middle nut.
07:00Use a second wrench to apply another full turn to the back knot.
07:04Use the middle nut tightening guide as an indication that the back nut is in the correct
07:08position. The installation of the 501 RCG is now complete.
