00:04General description of Gland.

00:07The 501453 universal comprises five major components.

00:12These being the back nut, middle nut, reversible armor clamping ring diaphragm seal

00:18and armor spigot, complete with cable guide and the entry component with captive deluge seal.

00:25This cable gland accommodates all types of elastomer and plastic insulated cable

00:30incorporating all types of armor or braid. The most common being single wire armor W and

00:36wire braid X.

00:39In addition, this cable Gland is suitable for cables which exhibit cold flow characteristics.

00:46Assembly instructions are supplied with each cable. Gland.

00:50Please refer to these for further instructions on cable preparation and installation.

00:58Cable preparation allow sufficient length of cable to enable termination of the conductors

01:04into the junction box strip back and remove the required amount of outer sheath and armor or

01:10braid to enable connection of the conductors to the terminal.

01:14Remove a further 20 millimeters of outer sheath for cable glands from sizes OS to C and 25

01:21millimeters on cable. Gland sizes from C two to F

01:29cable Gland installation fit the ingress protection or IP washer if required onto the

01:35entry thread and fit the entry component into the junction box,

01:39hand tight, using the enclosure thread or lock nut, using a spanner or wrench tighten

01:46until resistance is felt a quarter to a half turn nominal past the back nut,

01:52middle nut and reversible armor clamp or R ac over the cable.

01:57Making sure that the R AC is positioned in the correct orientation for single wire,

02:02armor tape or braid with the arrowhead indicating the correct armor or braid type.

02:07Pointing towards the equipment spread the armor or braid by gently pulling it away from the

02:14inner sheath of the cable.

02:16A screwdriver may be required for larger sized cables.

02:21The cable is then pushed through the diaphragm seal.

02:24This action is aided by the use of a pre fitted cable guide that removes the requirement to

02:29tape the conductors and is disposed of. Once the cable has passed through the seal,

02:36the diaphragm seal can be rolled back to ease assembly and pulled down the cable until the

02:41ends of the armor or braid are against the shoulder of the armor spigot.

02:46Push the cable through the entry component, bring up the armor clamping ring and position

02:52over the armor or braid, then bring up the middle nut and hand tighten onto the entry,

02:58finalized by tightening the middle nut by a further half to three quarters of a turn with a

03:03spanner or wrench to make off the armor clamping assembly

03:10unscrew the middle nut from the entry component and visually inspect that the armor or braid

03:16has been effectively clamped between the armour spigot and the armour clamping ring reassemble,

03:22the middle nut onto the entry component and hand tighten using a spanner or wrench tighten

03:28by a further 1/6 of a turn to finalize assembly to the entry component,

03:33bring up the back nut and hand tighten until it forms a seal around the outer cable sheath

03:39using one spanner or wrench, hold the middle nut in position whilst finalizing the

03:44tightening of the back nut by a further complete turn with another spanner or wrench.

03:49The 501453 universal cable, Gland has now been correctly installed.
