00:05Qsp and Hawk Seal are two part epoxy putty designed for potting Hawk barrier glands.
00:11These instructions apply to the standard Hawk seal and QSP compounds always use the glove
00:17supplied when handling the compound.
00:20If any compound comes into contact with the skin, it should immediately be cleaned off with
00:25skin cleaner. It should not be allowed to dry on the skin.
00:29Hawk seal or QSP is supplied in a two part package.
00:34The compound should be mixed in a 1 to 1 ratio until the colors have blended into one rolling
00:40and folding is the most effective way to achieve an even blend.
00:49The cable Gland should already be prepared for putty compound installation.
00:53As per the assembly instructions tip.
00:57During Gland installations, we recommend removing the rubber resin dam before installing
01:02the spigot or diablo components, slide the entry and pot away from the spigot.
01:10Any armor clamping device should already be engaged here as per the Gland assembly
01:14instructions, spread the cable cores and pack the compound between the cores tip.
01:22A cylindrical shape is the best way to ensure that the compound is effectively packed between
01:27the cores. Once all the gaps and voids have been filled,
01:31bring the conductors back together, tape the conductors together to prevent disturbance of
01:36the compound seal. Whilst packing pack more compound around the
01:41outside of the conductors shape the compound
01:48using the palm of your hand tip.
01:52The compound should form a cone shape to aid installation and reduce the risk of buoys
01:57during pot installation past the compound part over the packed
02:04compound, ensuring it's three quarters of the way down to maintain an even fill throughout
02:10and to fill any voids.
02:13Fit the entry pot and press down to push the compound chamber towards the armor clapping,
02:17spigot, remove any surplus compound, particularly where the compound pot
02:24meets the spigot and continue to press down until the compound pot sits correctly on the
02:29spigot component, immediately remove the entry and inspect the compound for voids.
02:36This is the compound prior to installation in the entry.
02:39It has not been cured, repair before the compound cures,
02:44pushing more compound down into the pot if necessary, place the entry over the silicon pot
02:50to ensure it is held in the correct shape.
02:53Screw up the Gland hand tight, roll the surplus
02:59compound and seat it on the cable.
03:03Once this is cured, the cable, Gland is ready for installation tip.
03:08Refer to the Hawk Seal or Q SS P packaging or assembly instructions for curing times.
03:14Once the compound is fully cured, the cause could be manipulated and the system could be
03:18energized
