00:00Welcome to the Burnie compression cable pole installation video.
00:03Before proceeding. It is very important to comply with all the
00:07safety precautions described in the safety operation manual,
00:10an instruction that is individually packaged with each compression cable pole.
00:14This video will guide you through the steps on how to properly crimp your compression cable
00:18pull. It is important to note that the number of
00:21crimps required for each compression cable pull is different.
00:24Each compression cable pull barrel is marked with the correct number of cramps and you can
00:28consult the SOMI for proper number of crumbs for the compression cable pull barrel.
00:32You are installing step one for all compression cable pulling heads,
00:38select the appropriate compression cable pull for the conductor being crimped and verify the
00:43conductor and compression cable pull markings are the same.
00:46The SOMI also indicates the conductor it accommodates for each compression cable pull
00:51step two for all compression cable pulling heads measure appropriate strip length line up
00:58the compression barrel to the conductor mark the cable at the appropriate strip length for
01:03easy strip length verification installers can use the do not crimpy online to measure strip
01:09length or review the Somi which identifies the minimum strip length required.
01:14It is important that conductor is stripped to the appropriate length to ensure the wire is
01:18fully inserted into the barrel.
01:20As a warning, each crim needs to have full contact with the conductor inside the barrel to
01:25ensure proper grip to the wire. Failure to properly strip the wire may result
01:30in a failure. Step three for all compression cable pulling
01:34heads strip the cable to the needed length with a wire stripper or another appropriate wire
01:39stripping device strip the insulation carefully to avoid nicking or cutting the wire strands
01:45strip the insulation to the proper length. So the conductor can be fully inserted into the
01:49compression cable, pull head as a warning, damaging wire strands during the stripping
01:54process can reduce the conductor's overall diameter which can result in less wire strands
01:59being compacted.
02:01This can cause the wire to slip from the barrel as the mechanical grip from the compression has
02:05been compromised. Step four, select the appropriate installation
02:09tooling. This is identified in the Somi step five,
02:14fully insert the conductor into the compression cable pulling head.
02:19Step six, apply the proper number of crimps to the barrel.
02:24Each barrel may require a different number of crimps.
02:27So be sure to review the barrel markings and or the soy for proper number of cramps and
02:32rotational crimp requirements.
02:34Be sure each crimp is applied with a full crump cycle to be sure proper installation as a
02:39warning, full CRM cycles, installing a proper number of cramps and using the proper
02:45rotational crimp offsets is critical to ensure the grip on the conductor is not compromised,
02:50resulting in a failure for the Y PC 25 barrels. One crimp is required place the YCP
02:5725 barrel at the top of the 644 head. Use the crimp band as a guide for the crimp
03:02placement by lining up the crimp band to be in the center of the 644 nest groove
03:19step seven prior to use, inspect each compression pulling grip to ensure that the
03:25proper number of cramps have been applied and that there are no visual damages to the
03:29compression pulling grips or conductor after the inspection is complete and the compression
03:34cable pull heads have been approved. The compression pulling heads will be ready for
03:38use for more information, visit bernie.com or contact Bernie customer service at 1 803
