The Evolution of Burndy

Our company was founded on July 19, 1924, as Burndy Engineering Company in Brooklyn, New York, by science historian and civic leader Bern Dibner. Burndy today is a global organization known for pioneering work in the manufacture of connectors, fittings, and tools for electrical utilities, commercial, industrial, and residential contractors, and maintenance and repair companies, as well as the telecommunications and renewable energies markets.

Burndy expands to Brazil

Burndy expands to Mexico

Sand casting foundry opens in Bethel, Connecticut. Site moves to Leeds, Alabama in 2017.

Factory in Lincoln, New Hampshire opens

Burndy headquarters moves from Connecticut to New Hampshire. Distribution center opens in New Hampshire.

Burndy acquires IMPLO. Implo complemented the Burndy portfolio with the addition of connectors to deadend, splice, or terminate high voltage transmission lines.

Hubbell Incorporated acquires Burndy. The addition of Burndy expanded Hubbell's offering in several markets, most significantly, the market for high-voltage connectors and tooling for electric utility transmission and distribution operations.

Company acquires Continental Industries. Continental Industries added the manufacturing of plastic and steel mechanical fittings for the gas and water industries to the Burndy line.

Company acquires Connector Manufacturing Company. Burndy acquired Connector Manufacturing Company for their business of designing, engineering, and manufacturing connector products for OEMs and the industrial market.

Company acquires CPI Connector Products. Burndy acquired CPI Connector Products, a company that designs, develops, and manufactures products for power utilities and mass transit, specializing in connectors.

Burndy celebrates 100-year anniversary on July 19, 2024, as part of the quality Hubbell family of brands
