00:07Welcome back to our we episode series. My name is Byron Mason.
00:11And today we're gonna be talking a little bit about grounding and Burnie's weave washer
00:15technology. Previously, we talked about grounding and some
00:18of its applications.
00:20See, grounding is important for N ac compliance and also for safety.
00:24If somebody were to touch a metal piece of an array that had ground fault to it,
00:28they could become electrocuted if that piece is not properly grounded.
00:33Traditionally, grounding is accomplished by running a copper wire to every exposed piece of
00:37metal on PV O red that includes a racking system in your module frames,
00:41that copper wire is attached to a racking and module frames via a land lock.
00:46This can be time and labor intensive and does require a lot of copper wire.
00:51A more cost effective and reliable method of providing protective grounding to a PV array is
00:57to use Burnie's weed washer line of products. Now, what is a weed washer weave stamps for
01:03washer, electrical equipment bond.
01:05It's a device that can be used to bond or electrically connect together all the separate
01:10metal pieces in a PV R red, your modules and your rails.
01:14This allows significantly less copper wire to be used in connecting your system to earth
01:19graft to give you a better understanding of how the technology works.
01:24We're going to spend a moment talking about the anatomy of a reed bonding washer device.
01:31The groundbreaking component is the weave tooth.
01:35This is the part that bites through non conductive coding such as anodizing and creates
01:40an electrical bond between module frames and other parts of the PV.
01:43System. Clearance holes allow for different sized
01:47hardware used to mount the modules to the racking system,
01:50tabs and legs, keep the weed washer oriented and secured.
01:53The different rails and clip features on the wea washer allow it to stay in place while the
01:59system is being assembled.
02:01There are three main categories of the weed washer devices.
02:05There's the rigid model which is often used in mid clamps or clearance holes.
02:09There's the flexible model that's also used at mid clamps that allows for a little more give
02:13during installation and then there's the clip on modules that firmly stay in place while the
02:18rest of the system is assembled around them.
02:21The weed washers are also used to enhance existing standard products such as land looks
02:26or braided jumpers.
02:28The weed teeth allow these products to make consistent lowed ground connections without any
02:34additional surface preparation.
02:36Thank you for watching this brief overview of the technology used in the burned weed washer
02:41line of products. My name is Byron Mason and join us next time.
02:45Thank you for watching.
