00:07Today, we're going to be demonstrating the strain relief system on the new Hubbell
00:13watertight plugs and connectors.
00:16Today, we're going to be using a jacketed cable in conjunction with a 20 amp plug.
00:24The first step is to refer to the instruction sheet and identify
00:31the cable diameter and how it relates to the cone seal.
00:40The pushing and the gaucha ring.
00:47Both the cone seal and the bushings are supplied on a tree that
00:53has the size identified to make it easier for the user to choose what
01:00the right size is to use.
01:03So let's get started.
01:05The first step would be to choose the cone seal and in our case,
01:11we're using a cone seal that is less than 5/8.
01:16So the cone seal is snapped into the backside of the strain relief nut
01:23as such, please note that when it goes in, the conceal is in its reversed
01:30position.
01:32The next step is to slide the, the nut and conceal assembly up the cable,
01:44leave enough room for the cable to be stripped and wired.
01:49The next step is to choose the appropriate pushing and slide that up the cable.
02:01Finally choose the right gaucha ring and attach
02:08that between the nut and the bushing so that the beveled side is up.
02:15Ok. Once that's all in place on the cable, the
02:20assembly is now ma married up with the body
02:27of the wiring device.
02:31So insert the bushing into the core in the back of the,
02:35the body and close the nut up all the way.
02:42Notice that when the nut is slid down the cable, the cone seal inverts and creates
02:49a tight seal against the cable jacket to prevent water from entering into
02:56the device. The nut is tightened all the way down until it
03:02bottoms on the yellow body of the device.
03:07Once that's completed, you've now finalize the strain relief
03:13assembly. Once the device is properly terminated,
03:20we've now created the most secure strain relief in the industry today.
03:28If you were to unscrew the nut
03:37and reveal the gaucha ring below it, you can actually see that the
03:44gaucha ring bites into the cable jacket just enough to provide maximum strain
03:51relief without damaging the conductors below.
