00:18The first step in temporary personal protective grounding is to lay out all the equipment to be
00:23used at the work site.
00:24A tarp can be used to lay out the equipment on the ground to keep it clean and away from any
00:29sources of moisture.
00:31The grounding equipment should be visually inspected to ensure it is not damaged and
00:36functioning properly.
00:37The goal of the ground sets is to keep the resistance as low as possible.
00:41So a wire brush can be used to clean any oxidation from the clamps.
00:47Chance assembled set comes with a label that includes the catalog number for future ordering.
00:53A serial number. A STMF 855 rating and the DC Millio resistance
00:58taken at the factory before installing temporary protective grounding equipment.

01:23seeing when installed.

01:29Before and after use, the line voltage is being checked with a chance.

01:41The hot stick must have enough length to comply with OSHA and company or utility mandated
01:46minimum approach distances. Mad for short.
01:49The next step is to clean all the conductors and the neutral for installation of the ground
01:54clamps, removing the oxidation will help to reduce the resistance in the path to ground.
02:00In this video, a chance universal stick mounted conductor brush is used to clean the conductors
02:05and neutral. A hand line is used to bring up the cluster bar
02:09for installation on a pole. The cluster bar is used to create an equipotent
02:13zone that will bond the pole with the conductors and system neutral.
02:17The cluster bar should be installed below the workers feet and be in conductive contact with
02:22the pole to a depth beyond where the climber's gaps would penetrate the pole.

02:34appendix C. The next step is to install a ground set from
02:37the cluster bar to the system neutral. If there is no system neutral or the pole
02:42grounds have been cut or damaged at the job site.
02:45A driven ground rod can be used in place of the system neutral.
02:48A ground clamp is then tightened to the cluster bar.
02:51The other end is then installed in a shotgun stick with the correct length or mat and
02:56connected to the system. Neutral.
02:59A second ground set is installed on the cluster bar and the other end to one of the phases with
03:04the shotgun stick.
03:05A third ground set is installed from the previously grounded phase to another ungrounded
03:10phase. 1/4 ground set is installed from the previously
03:14grounded phase to the last ungrounded phase. Therefore, short circuiting all three phases,
03:21additional grounds may be needed to bond additional conductive objects in the work zone.
03:26One of the clamps has a stud installed to make installation easier of the ground sets.
03:31The stud is not rated for fault current and should not be used to carry any current.
03:35It is only intended as a parking stud to keep the uninstalled end of the ground set from
03:40moving around during installation.
03:42Once all the grounds are installed, the de energized and grounded line maintenance can
03:47begin after the work is completed, the grounds should be uninstalled in the opposite order
03:53they were installed with the connections made at the cluster bar to the ground removed.
